I have been making cold process soap for about a year now, and it's really a blast! My first recipe was for a banana, chocolate, mango butter & oatmeal soap. It contains mango butter, palm oil, coconut oil, shea butter, castor oil, cocoa powder, real banana, oatmeal, and chocolate hazelnut fragrance.
Since then, I have made several more exciting soap varieties. They include a luxury lavender-mint essential oil soap with oatmeal, a hemp oil & oatmeal soap with peppermint essential oil, a goats milk soap with oatmeal, honey and almond or vanilla hazelnut fragrance, a French green clay soap with rosemary, grapefruit and lime essential oils, a Moroccan red clay soap with anise oil and ground fennel seed for exfoliation of the feet (it's super scratchy because of the fennel seed, so I don't recommend using it for the body without a wash cloth!!), a carrot juice goat milk soap with tangerine peach fragrance, a neem, tea tree & peppermint oil soap with olive, hemp & avocado oil, and an olive oil, hemp oil & goats milk soap with vintage rose & sandalwood oils. Since these first soap batches, I have made several more varieties, which are shown below.
It takes a few days for the soap to cure before the PH level is skin-friendly, and the longer that the soap dries for, the longer it will last!
I have gotten excellent feedback on all of these soaps from my friends, family, and recent customers. They really like how the soaps do not dry out their skin like many of the store-bought soaps do. Also, the handmade soaps will last a long time if they are kept dry by using a slotted soap dish, and out of a direct stream of water from the shower.
All of my handmade cold process soaps contain the finest luxury oils and natural butters, and never any of the cheaper "filler oils". These luxury oils and butters include natural & unrefined shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter, olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, hemp seed oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, rice bran oil, sweet almond oil, castor bean oil, and natural plant-derived essential oils as well as popular fragrance oils. Unscented soaps are also offered as an option at the Flying Pig Boutique.
Here is the website for an awesome organic soap company in Australia: www.simplescents.com. I bought some of their soaps at the Kansas State Fair a few years ago, and they are really wonderful!
